Just as a bridge requires both thoughtful engineering and strong materials, the role of the Collections Stewardship team combines careful planning and a thorough understanding of the physical materials that comprise the objects. We understand that collections are built for many reasons including connoisseurship, investment, and legacy. If cared for by professionals, art and other objects of value will endure and remain available for enjoyment and appreciation.

Registration

Registration, a practice from the museum world, is a role within the Collections Stewardship team that supports clients and curators in defining priorities. By identifying best methods for the use, storage, and display of art or other objects, we help to turn a collaborative creative vision into a lasting reality.

Inventory and Cataloguing

Our team conducts inventories, which are physical surveys of the client’s holdings. These surveys are the foundation for servicing the needs of an individual collection. Clients may experience this survey in the form of a comprehensive catalogue of objects that features information such as condition, dimensions, location, and more.

Database Implementation

As the tools used to preserve and manage knowledge evolve, The Lumiere Group maintains fluency in the latest content management systems. We can research and tailor databases to a client’s needs, whether the goal is building from the ground up or incorporating existing information into a new system.

Conservation, Protection, Emergency Preparedness, and Disaster Recovery

The scenarios that precipitate conservation are many. Clients can be assured that all contingencies are considered by members of our team. Safeguards for art and other objects of value may include future proofing commissions, outlining and executing regular maintenance, and planning for disaster recovery as our changing climate demands.
